Common challenges
IT challenges K-12 schools face
Sensitive records, fixed schedules, and rarely a full IT team.
01
Sensitive records
Student records, family and health information, and staff files that need protecting.
02
People change every year
New teachers, substitutes, and office staff each year, and access that must be removed when they leave.
03
No dedicated IT team
IT often falls to a teacher or the office manager, on top of their real job.
04
No room for downtime
When email, Wi-Fi, or shared files stop during the school day, classrooms and the front office feel it right away.

What CISA asks schools to do first
K-12 cybersecurity: CISA's first steps, and how we help
In August 2026, CISA published K-12 cybersecurity guidance for schools and districts. Its Getting Started Guide names four first steps for schools of any size: protect login credentials, safeguard devices, perform and test backups, and build an initial incident response capability.
Steps 1 and 2
Protect logins and devices
MFA on staff and admin accounts
Email filtering
Updates and endpoint protection managed
Vulnerability scanning and fixes
Step 3
Back up and test restores
Managed backups with restore testing
Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup
Server and computer backup
Restores tested, not assumed
Step 4
Be ready for an incident
Incident response help
24/7 threat monitoring
Phishing training for staff
Continuity plan written with you

Clear limits
What SupportMax does, and what stays with your school
We handle the IT and cybersecurity work: computers, accounts, email, Wi-Fi and network, security tools, backups, and the help desk. When teachers, substitutes, or office staff leave, we remove their access, a step CISA highlights. Some school responsibilities need other people: E-Rate applications, student-privacy agreements, and questions about FERPA or California student-privacy law belong with your administration and legal counsel, and we supply the technical details they ask for. Classroom platforms and student information systems stay with their vendors, and we coordinate with those vendors on your behalf. If your school already has an IT person, see co-managed IT.

Client stories
What K-12 schools say about SupportMax
Our teachers got back to teaching.
“Before SupportMax, our IT tickets lived in a black hole. A teacher would submit a request about a broken projector or a Chromebook that wouldn't connect, and days would pass before anyone even acknowledged it. Within the first quarter of rolling out SupportMax across our 14 schools, our average resolution time dropped from 72 hours to under 6. Our teachers stopped troubleshooting on their own time and got back to teaching. I honestly didn't believe the demo numbers until I saw them in our own dashboard.”
Director of Technology - Riverton Unified School District
Our staff finally feels heard.
“We're a K-8 charter network with five campuses and a lean operations team, so we can't afford to have people chasing down support issues manually. SupportMax gave us one place to see everything — device requests, facilities tickets, even parent-facing tech questions — and the automations alone have saved us what amounts to a full-time position. Our principals now have visibility they never had before, and our staff finally feels heard when they raise a hand for help.”
Chief Operations Officer - Brightpath Academy
It understood K-12.
“What sold us on SupportMax wasn't just the platform — it was how well it understood K-12. We're not a Fortune 500 company; we're a district with aging devices, tight budgets, and staff who don't have time for complicated software. The rollout was smooth, the adoption was immediate, and our ticket backlog went from over 400 to nearly zero in the first 60 days. Our school board asks about the ROI every year, and every year it's an easy conversation.”

Questions
Education IT support: Los Angeles FAQs
Have a question that isn't here? Call 310.331.8119 or schedule a free consultation.
Do you work with public school districts?
Yes. SupportMax works with public school districts and charter networks as well as private and independent schools. If your district already has an IT department, we can work alongside it through co-managed IT.
What does CISA recommend schools do first?
CISA's 2026 Getting Started Guide lists four steps: protect login credentials with MFA, keep devices and software updated, back up critical data and test that it restores, and set up an initial way to respond to incidents.
Do you handle E-Rate?
No. E-Rate applications and filings stay with your school or an E-Rate consultant. We can provide technical details about your network and equipment when they ask.
Can you help us protect student information?
Yes, on the technical side: MFA, email filtering, endpoint protection, tested backups, and staff security training. Privacy agreements and FERPA questions belong with your administration and legal counsel.
Can you support teachers' laptops and the front office?
Yes. Staff get a remote help desk, computers are monitored and kept updated, and onsite help is available on the Westside when needed.
How is IT support priced for a school?
It depends on your staff, devices, and needs. See pricing and packages, or start with a free consultation and a written quote.
